World Aids Day

Yesterday I sent out a tweet that said "2mrw is World AIDS Day" please go out and get tested." , from that tweet I only got 2 retweets. If I had sent out a tweet about a party or twitpic'd a pair of shoes, I'm sure far more people would have RT'd me. I find it shocking and very sad that AIDs/HIV is still such a taboo topic and rarely talked about. We have to speak on this to save lives and help others. In some way AIDs/HIV affects us all, it is not just a gay disease or a disease that only affects the promiscuous. We must protect ourselves, get tested and take your partner(s) with you!

A little education on AIDS/HIV

*someone is infected every 9 1/2 minutes

* 1 in every 5 people living with HIV has not even had their infection diagnosed

* The CDC estimates that by the end of 2007 there were 470,902 new cases of people living with an AIDS diagnoses in the United States

*In 2007, the District of Columbia reported a far higher rate of AIDS diagnoses than any other area (though the rate in the wider Washington area was surpassed by other metropolitan areas). A 2009 local government report found the capital city's HIV prevalence was 3%, including figures as high as 7.2% for 40-49 year old, and 6.5% for black males
*Estimated number of adults and adolescents living with an AIDS diagnosis or a diagnosis of HIV infection in 2008 in DC 9,030, Maryland16,510 and Virginia

* Just over 75% of adults and adolescents living with an AIDS diagnosis are men.

* 42.8% of those infected were blacks/African Americans, which accounted for the largest proportion of people living with an AIDS diagnosis in 2007.

Celebrities such as Alicia Keys and Kim Kardashian have all "died" on social networks today. They have agreed not to tweet, or facebook until $1million is raised to support families affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa orphaned by AIDS/HIV. You can donate by texting "KIM" to 90999 and reply yes!! I am huge on donating, I believe it is our duty to help others. Please donate , if you don't I WILL JUDGE YOU!

This deadly disease can be prevented and eventually stopped! Practice safe sex and remember the safer sex is abstinence. If you are sexually active, get tested on the regular, know your status! And if you are diagnonisd with either HIV or AIDS, know that it is not a death sentence, there is treatment out there to help you live a full happy life!!! GET TESTED, I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!LOVE YOU ALL
